Guys... I've been away... FOREVER. Okay slightly dramatized, but 12 days in Texas is a lot for me. I had some events to go to and now I'm in re-entry hell with another event in just 10 days. Sporting some swollen glands too. It's a fun time. I wasn't going to write an email, but I got a message from a client, and I just had to tell you this. (please note - Claude did help me with the message below as I'm drowning in messages to reply to) ... but it's worth a read. xx Julie ------- WHO THE HECK IS JULIE?! That was the question going around the internet marketing world in 2017, after Russell Brunson’s team emailed a million people with the top ten affiliates for his new book Expert Secrets. One of the ten names was mine. This entire story is inside my book Million Dollar Grit. Here's the TLDR. I had four kids in a rental in Cheshire, Connecticut that we’d outgrown. An email list of about 4,000. A desk in the basement with a backdrop tacked to two poles to hide the mess. Nobody in that world knew who I was. Russell was launching Expert Secrets with an affiliate contest. A dollar a book. I’d read it, liked it, sent one email to my list, and went back to work. That one email put me on a list with Tony Robbins, Jeff Walker, and Grant Cardone. It did not go smoothly from there. Two weeks in, after I’d cashed every favor I had, they changed the payout from $1 a book to $20, and a wave of fresh contestants came in behind me. I was livid. (I wrote a post about it. It went viral.) Fast forward to the end... I finished fourth. I beat Tony Robbins with a 4,000-person list and a toddler on my lap. How the heck did I do it? I didn’t stay in the top ten because of my list. I stayed because people started mailing their lists for me. Service providers I’d helped over the years offered free bonuses to anyone who bought through my link. Nobody got a cut. They just wanted to see me win. I’ve never forgotten what it felt like to watch people with zero stake in me spend their credibility on my behalf. So that’s what this email is. I'm returning the favor here for Sarah Snow. Sarah Snow is the one who sent me back to 2017. She's been my client for the last 6 months and yesterday, she sent me a message. She’s #3 on the Skool leaderboard in a contest where she's gunning for the top spot. The only woman in the top ten mind you, and she's got 30 days to hit $100K. I know that leaderboard feeling. And Sarah Snow is one of the most talented storytellers I've ever met. If you go on her IG, you'll see what I mean. So I’m mailing for her. If you want to grow on Instagram from someone who posts once a week and just crushes it... head on over to her IG and get into her Skool mastermind. She also launched her webinar last month and nailed a six figure launch (that I haven't even had a chance to share about)! And in the spirit of amazing female content creators, I wanted to share a few more that are in the game doing epic things. All of these women I would fiercely put my name behind. Alex Petrakieva (@alexonabudget) closes the doors on One Good Series tonight. Alex is a personal finance creator who built her whole audience on brand deals, came to me in May wanting to own something instead, and launched her first course ever this summer. Jessi sent her to me, which tells you something about Jessi. The course is exactly what the name says: you don’t need a content strategy, you need one good series. She just added filming and editing modules, and she’s running this launch quietly, on purpose. In a year where everyone is screaming, I find that very hard not to respect. → One Good Series, closes tonight Jessi Jean closes the Yap Challenge: Special Edition tomorrow night, and it starts Sunday. If you’ve been here a while you know Jessi. She walked away from a 150K account, rebuilt to 400K in five months, and 25,000+ people have done the Yap Challenge since. A shoutout from her is how a lot of you found me. This round adds a new layer: how you actually get paid for the content. If talking to a camera still makes you want to crawl under your desk, this is the fix. → Yap Challenge: Special Edition, closes Saturday Two more to watch. Nothing to buy. Just follow them. Katie Wight (@strongbrandsocial). She's been my client for nearly 10 years!!! Nearly everyone teaching social media is teaching personal brand. Katie is writing the playbook for the businesses that aren’t one: the brand account, the team-run account, the founder who doesn’t want to be the face. She’s building the AI-powered version of her S3 system right now, for the exact businesses everyone else ignores. Elise Darma (@elisedarma). Another longtime client, Elise has been teaching Instagram marketing for over a decade, which makes her an OG by any definition. She stepped away for most of this year, came back to an internet AI had rearranged, and instead of coasting on old products she’s rebuilding. Her last subject line was “everyone’s saying courses are dead...” Watch what she does with that. If you need to get your organic IG game going, don't look any further than this list. These are real high quality content creators, with great IG accounts and EPIC digital products. Here’s my ask. Pick one. Alex closes tonight. Jessi closes tomorrow. Sarah has 30 days. If one of these is for you, go now, while it counts. *None of these are affiliate links. They are voluntary endorsements and I receive no money for making them (yes they are all private clients). |
