That was the voxer ask this morning (around 5:30am). This was my reply ๐ ๐๏ธI chatted about this to myself on my podcast Million Dollar Grit.๐๏ธ A few thoughts for those of you who don't have time to listen (it's only 12 minutes! - 6 minutes on 2x). Imagine you are the sun. And you have a bunch of rings or orbits around you. Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, etc. When you are needing clients, the first ring - Mercury - is symbolic of your past clients and warm network. The likelihood of activating someone there is high. But I give four other actions (think Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter) - that while they may feel a bit like they aren't returning your investment of time - will absolutely keep your solar system of prospective customers alive and active. Ironically, the feeling of "oh crap I need clients" will happen less and less if you keep up those activities. Here's the great paradox of sales activity: 90% of your efforts will return nothing. 10% of your efforts will be a home run and where you need to double down. Just like a hit single on an album. Since you don't know which one will hit (aka which lead will bite), you have to put in the work to make contact with lots of people. But know that most of it will yield nothing, so optimize your outreach and stay detached. Don't let it bug you. When you hit the one that matters, it can change things in a big way.
